What is Texthören?
Texthören is a text-based music visualisation system. It allows users to upload their own songs and to have them visualised in a textual manner.
In the same way as my piece "JailText", this piece uses the metadata contained within the mp3 files loaded
in order to make sens of things. It extracts this time not only the track title, but also the artist name and the album name. These nodes were programmed
in a very similar manner that Jason Lewis uses in his behavioral text library for Processing : NextText.
While this is not a translation of the library from Java, it utilises the same basic principles :
- The word as a first node.
- The letters within each word as secondary nodes.
- Each node on each level has multiple properties.
How Texthören works.
Several behaviors are affected to the text nodes in motion:
Bass tones change the blurring of the characters.
Bass tones also affect the X position of the words. Le louder the bass tone, the more to the right the word will be.
Mid tones change the Y position of the individual letters within words.
Overall loudness of the track changes the height of the words.
